In class exercises, come to
class!
Lesson 3

one sheet, this is not what the book suggests
-
Dimension your drawings.

We will pick a number of these
to print for your weekly assignment.
-
Label your "view title" with
the appropriate name and scale.
LINE 24
Drawing Template

Separate the text in your title
block by appropriately spaced lines, make the line separation consistent.
-
Make the text font "RomanS",
3/16" height.
-
Change you border to the standard
color blue from gray the same as your title block layer.
-
Change your title block layer
to white.
-
Make the text in the title block
the only thing on this layer, everything else (lines border) should be
on your new blue colored layer "border".
-
Create a double border line,
offset the first line by 1/8" to the outside.
Your assignments for this
week are as follows:
The bed assignment.
-
Create 3 viewports on "B"
size paper showing your 3 beds.
-
Cover the elements as discussed
in class including using
-
RomanS font, ALL CAPITALS

plumbing related fixtures in Lesson 3.
-
Place all fixtures on one sheet.
-
Use an appropriate scale.
-
Scale the dimensions according
to the formula below.

just copy this one):

PROVIDE ABS WASTE PIPES FOR
FIRST FLOOR FIXTURES ONLY, PROVIDE CAST IRON WASTE PIPES FOR SECOND FLOOR
FIXTURES.

Drawing Template:
-
Dimensions should be scaled
using the following formula:

On the dimension toolbar, click
on the bottom button, "dimension style".
-
Click the "modify" button.
-
Chose the "fit" tab.
-
Enter the reciprocal of your
"viewport" scale (found in the viewport toolbar window) multiplied by 0.5.
(in other words the dimension "fit" is 50% of the reciprocal of your view
scale.
-
You will be graded on this,
this week and from now on.
-
Add a line in your Title Block
with a notation "SCALE, AS NOTED".
Assignments:
-
Lesson 4-2, add doors, two,
not three, drawings.
Come up with a dimensioning
format for the two types of dimensions, the door placement dimension and
the
door width dimension. One way is to place one dimension on one side
of a wall and the other on the opposite wall. You can also use a
radius dimenson on the door swing. Yet another option is to use "typical"
when appropriate. What ever you chose be consistent.
Drawing Template:
Assignments (3 to turn in, 4
to be graded):

-
Use what ever you want to define
your project by renaming "HOUSE PROJECT"
-
Use your name as an example,
the "KRUEGER RESIDENCE" for instance.

get a poor grade otherwise).

Use Ansi "D" size paper, 22"
x 34"
-
Logo and Title Block will be
twice as big
-
Fill in the "Checked By" with
"CSS"

Provide a real name and address
(not Fake Street, for example)
-
Go back and check all of your
drawing "markups" and incorporate those corrections.
-
I won't be telling you what
I'm looking for, you should know that by now.
-
Dimension Guidelines, they may
be crowded in places so take the time to make them look neat:
-
Move the larger dimensions to
the outside, small ones closer to the object being dimensioned
-
Don't forget to use the "dog
leg", moving the dimension text to a different location, perhaps to
an adjacent room.
-
Align the dimensions with each
other when adjacent to each other.
-
Grading will be on a different
sheet so that you can keep your drawings unmarked
for your own school portfolio.
-
Staple the drawings together
on the left margin and roll them up with a rubber band.
-
They will be graded and back
in the box the following week and through the first week
of Winter quarter.
Questions:
Jason Peterson wrote this:
because the size of the paper
is bigger, are we changing the size of the viewports. ie. on sheet 4 there
is a lot of room between the sections. are we keeping the size of the sections
the same as when we printed them out for our assignments, or are we going
to make them a bit bigger so it does not seem like we are wasting space?
Jason Petterson
I would suggest that you
fill the page as best you can with out making it looking crowded.
This may mean making the
scale on the viewports bigger.
In short, make it look good
for you won't be punished for your efforts.
CSS
An example of the Floor Plan
follows below, viewports are the same size as on the 11 x 17 drawings.
This drawing is an example
and may not be complete as required.
